A Diva walking down the street - TV anchor, Ex Columnist, celebrity event MC and a performer- this is Ruchika Davar's style space. Style mantras learnt and applied as she travels across India and all over the world finding quirky buys, rummaging through popular flea markets and on a lucky day- landing a miracle bargain at a designer store. It is all about combining the trendy look- a stole from Mangalore with heels from Macau, booties from Chandigarh with a hair clip from China, Belt from Gurgaon with the outfit from Greece...this space is all about style and its easiest expression. You will find Janpath and Cavalli rubbing shoulders here, Coach sharing a moment with Fab India...chose ur pick, create your own interpretations and be inspired. After all Diva style is an education- and learning is fun when its a full classroom...so join in.

Neon Polka Fever

With the monsoons in Goa keeping the sun away for days at a stretch, what better way to light up the room than Neon Polka Dots. This amazing faux wrap style dress was an impulse buy from Bangkok but it has lit up my wardrobe so much. I love the Fuschia dots that stand out like beacons on the green palette. They really dazzle the eyes in an optical art sort of way. The messy side bun is a great way to camouflage already messy, much in need of a wash hair. Rainwater is so NOT good for hair. It can bring down even freshly washed hair to it's knees, so AVOID.
ACCESSORY-The Snake print necklace just breaks the monotony of the dots and gives angular relief to very round shapes.
TIP-  If your outfit is print heavy then a contradictory shape of the accessory offers relief to the eyes.
GET THE LOOK- Simple and clean- Garnier BB cream + Iconic Kajal + MAC Love Thing Mineralize Blush + Flormar Long wearing Lipstick L12 (not available in India- I picked this beauty from Istanbul )

Building a dream

Circa- when the world began (for me at least)- Right from childhood...one thing i remember about myself is that i was just a different kinda' dresser. My mother remembers more clearly :-/ (think big showdowns on choice of birthday dress, what to buy as rakhi/ diwali presents etc). My sartorial choices were commonly labelled as non confirmist, provocative, strange and mostly inappropriate depending upon who was presiding. As i reached college the perception changed to bold and experimental but mostly i was made to feel guilty about choosing to express myself through my attire - mostly full of contempt for bourgeois middle class norm - a major reason why i would be considered unfit for any corporate job. And living in a chauvinistic city like Delhi of course didn't help.
Cut to- Today - Hello, I'm Ruchika Davar- TV anchor, ex columnist, Event MC and performer but mostly an ardent fan of style. Living in Goa I easily (and not always gracefully...) shift from frumpy to Divaesque depending upon my mood and weather. Happy being comfortable in my own skin, skin-tights and Burj Khalifaesque heels...This is MY SPACE, MY STYLE. You are invited to be a part of my fashion journey. Comments, critiques are welcome...compliments will be cherished. Hate mails will be deleted as i have no place for negativity in my life. Happy to see u here...keep on visiting- i would love it.
about the title of my blog- My personal tribute to my signature perfume- Christian Dior's Diorissimo. I think there are certain things in life that are sheer classics and beauty but still lose out in the race due to bigger hypes by worthless competitors. Diorissmo is one such fragrance- unbelievably dwarfed by insane and inexplicable success of pencil eraser smells of ja'dore, Chanel no.5, Eternity etc etc.... Diorissimo is rare and a class apart. I've been wearing it for 13 yrs and each time it hits my nose
it almost gives me the big 'O'. If u think it's strong, overwhelming, and a bit heavy- then u're reading about ME.
About the image- clicked at a pool party- i absolutely love this Obi belt (you will also notice it in the cover shot of this blog) and the stunning finish it provides to the tube maxi dress I'm wearing. Just a bit of definition can make any outfit outstanding. The smoked Sunglasses were my first ever purchase from asos.com and a very cherished pair.
The Feather & skulls necklace is so me - gentle & lethal- love the contradiction.
much love & besos.
